Selecting a Weight-loss Program Safe and Effective for You

Selecting a Weight-loss Program Safe and Effective for You

Exercise, eating healthy and getting at least 8 hours of sleep leads to a healthy living and weight-loss for most people. But for others, sometimes a little bit more help from a weight-loss program can lead to positive outcomes. Most of the time it leads to better results than if they were go at it alone. But even though there are a lot of -successful- weight-loss programs out there with promises and raving reviews about how excellent Jane Doe had lost 20lbs through their program, their program might effect you different than it had Jane Doe for various reasons.

Before you sign up for any weight-loss program, start off by visiting with your doctor or health care provider about losing the weight and prepare questions by writing them down and asking your doctor about them. Don’t feel shy about taking a pen and paper to your visit, it will help you organize your thoughts better and will help you remember what to ask. Some questions you could consider asking about losing weight are:

What is a healthy weight for me? (Because we all are different.)

Could my extra weight be caused by a health problem or by a medicine I am taking?

How should I change my eating habits? (If you are vegan, gluten intolerant or have other food allergies.)

What kind of physical activity should I avoid if I have any medical problems? (Asthma, old knee injury-etc)

Could a weight-loss program help me? Which ones should I consider doing that is right for me?

Your doctor can go over any questions you may have considering a weight-loss program, especially if you have any past or current health problems and will help set goals for controlling your weight. And don’t be afraid to ask questions when you don’t understand something.

For a fruitful and long-term weight control, the program you choose or are considering should focus on your overall health. Losing weight is a lifestyle change. And with the weight-loss program promoting healthy habits it will help you manage your weight for the future. So taking the time to do your research in finding the right program for you will help move you along the path to living healthier faster.

Feng Shui Tips For The Bedroom

Feng Shui Tips for the Bedroom, By Kartar Diamond

While each bedroom is truly unique, and can be analized based on more specific criteria, there are some general tips which can help most people, most of the time. The premise of feng shui, is to create balance and positive energy, and to cater to the function of the room when possible. In other words, what may be appropriate for a bedroom is not necessarily appropriate for other rooms.

1. Avoid sleeping under large, heavy exposed beams. They can cause downward pressure and a chaotic flow of energy in the bedroom, eventually undermining health and triggering specific problems associated with body areas that are directly under the beam.

2.Avoid placing a bed in direct alignment with the entrance to the room. This means, DIRECT alignment, as if your entire body could be taken out of the room feet first, without bending the body. This direct alignment can also cause health problems over time.

3. Avoid having large mirrors, like mirrored closet doors, in the bedroom. Although they are extremely popular and common, a large mirror in a bedroom can bounce the energy around a room–to the extent that people can have their sound sleep interrupted.

4.Avoid sleeping with your head very close to a low window. This is simply draining. We lose most of our body heat from the head and feet.

5.Avoid having a TV or computer in a bedroom. Some people have few options for where to place these items, but they emit an electrical field which is not good to sleep close to.

6.Avoid a sloped ceiling. Once again, they can bounce the energy around the room and are not considered as stable as flat ceilings. The bedroom is for sleeping and re-charging yourself, not for adding more to your stress.

7.Close the bathroom door if the toilet is aligned directly with the bed. Feng Shui masters have been tracking the effects of sleeping too close to toilets for many decades now. It is not “ancient” feng shui since modern plumbing did not exist until relatively recently. Yet, documentation has shown that people are healthier if they sleep further away from the bathroom.

8.Unless you know specifically what your bedroom needs in the way of colors, then just stick to safe colors such as the lightest pastels or white. Every bedroom is truly unique and bold colors will emulate the elements. As an example, if you paint your bedroom walls Hunter Green, that resonates some of the Wood element. If you paint the walls blue, that vibrates some of the water element. There is nothing inherently good or bad about any color, but color will effect occupants differently depending on the “chi” in the room. As an example in extremes: lots of red color in the right place could enhance income and enhance fertility, but red color in a bedroom that should NOT have it, could only cause sickness, accidents or arguments.

9. No heavy lighting fixtures overhead or near the headboard of the bed. This is just plain dangerous and it also creates an oppressive feeling to have anything heavy looming near your head (even if you are asleep.)

10. Try to sleep in one of your best personal directions, based on your birth year. For instance, a woman born in 1951 sleeps best with her head to the westerly directions, such as west, northwest or southwest. Whereas a man born in 1951 sleeps better in the ‘easterly’ directions, which are east, southeast, north and south. Using Feng Shui to Improve Work, Career and Get Helpful People

Feng Shui is the ancient art of placement.According to this ancient and effective practice, moving certain objects in your environment affects you very directly positively or negatively. Here are two opportunities to give this incredible philosophical and practical process a try.

First opportunity: Many people–too many–are incredibly unhappy in their careers and jobs. To gain clarity and ignite the fires of positive change, let’s concentrate on our career corner. Many careers are tied to our ultimate purpose during our lives. When combined, work CAN be play, and life is enjoyable and livable; not just bearable.

We will use the word “career” which will include profession, purpose and life’s work. Now, let’s give this a go. Check our reliable bagua, and find your career area (you can easily find a sample bagua/map which clearly shows you areas in words). As in any other area, you can have multiple career spaces. For example, you can have one in your office space and another in your home as a whole or within one of your rooms. As with your other areas you can have your career area in a small space like a desk. I will continue to emphasize that the point is the intent and energy you use within that space is what matters. You can usually find your career area on the center “north” geographically speaking or your personal lower area-in reference to your body, that is the middle/center spot of any of your spaces. Once you have identified your career area, you can create and make adjustments that work for you.

I cannot say it enough but the more creative you are and fun you have, the more enjoyable and effective it will be. You can place objects and use colors which are of various deep tones such as deep blue, black, in this space. The color white can indeed also be used as well as metal as a secondary element. Items that symbolize what YOU identify as professional success and happiness which are balanced with the rest of your life are strongly recommended. Try to use what is for your highest and greater good and what is truly meant for you. Symbols like fish, seascapes can be placed here. Also, conditions and ideals that are of personal significance can be used. For instance, you can put on a piece of paper pictures or written words of ideal salary, working conditions, schedule style, travel or lack of it, etc. Use general descriptions of qualities you want as well as values. The element for this space is WATER. You can use a small water fountain or clear/white bowl of water in your corner too.

Second Opportunity: Whether you need outside help for your career, love life, health issues, social calendar, or something more personal, adjusting your helpful people corner will provide you with the energy shift you desire. As usual this works best when you stick with general requests not specific persons because sometimes we don’t know who is best for our highest good. Let the universe take care of that part of things. Remember the helpful person(s) can take various forms so keep your eyes and mind open. Now let’s proceed. Again, check the reliable bagua, and find your helpful people area.

We will continue to emphasize that the point is the intent and energy you use within that space is what matters. You can usually find your helpful people area on the “northwest” corner geographically speaking or your personal lower right hand spot of any of your spaces. You can begin to create and make adjustments that work for you. Let’s review examples of what we can use in your helpful people area. You can place objects and use white, grey tones and black colors, in this space. Items that symbolize the qualities you want in a helpful person and are balanced with the rest of your life are strongly recommended. Try to use what is for your highest and greater good and what is truly meant for you. Symbols like wind chimes, fresh flowers, paintings and pictures with spiritual significance like angels, Christ, Buddha, teachers, mentors, wise elders can be placed here. Also, conditions and ideals that are of personal significance can be used. For instance, you can put on a piece of paper pictures or written words of ideal type of assistance you need, etc.

Use general descriptions of qualities you want as well as values. The element for this space is METAL. You can anything made of metal and place it in this corner (stay away from knives or other sharp cutting objects. Have fun and be creative. As always remember not to let the North, South, East, West directions confuse you. You simply go by the bagua and the space you are in. Not the outside world. So for instance when you enter a room or are looking at a specific space, see yourself in the center of the map. In front is Recognition, reputation and fame, to your right in the upper corner is romantic relationship, to you right/center is family, right lower corner helpful people, etc.
